The Chhattisgarh High Court has closed a suo motu public interest case concerning drug abuse in Bilaspur after receiving detailed affidavits from the police and district administration outlining year-long action against narcotics trafficking and illegal distribution.
The bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Bibhu Datta Guru initiated the proceedings after taking note of a news report describing the Juni Line locality as a hub for drug use, where addicts openly injected themselves and the supply of narcotic injections had triggered public concern.
In its order dated 26 November 2025, the court observed that no recent incidents of the reported nature were now being recorded and that authorities had taken adequate measures, making further judicial intervention unnecessary.
