The Chhattisgarh High Court on November 14, 2025 recorded that the state has already released substantial sums to repair and maintain police residential buildings, and directed the Director General of Police to file a personal affidavit about pending administrative approvals for new police accommodation. The court’s order reproduces the DGP’s personal affidavit, which says an approved sum of Rs. 785.93 lakh for general maintenance was released to the Chhattisgarh Police Housing Board on October 31, 2025, and that a further Rs. 140 lakh for repairs in Rajnandgaon district was released on November 7, 2025.
The affidavit also explains steps taken on longer-term expansion: budget provisions exist for construction of new police housing 962 units in 2024–25 and 2,884 units in 2025–26 and the Chhattisgarh Police Housing Board has raised demands for administrative approvals before the state government by letters dated December 10, 2024 and September 9, 2025. According to the affidavit, the budgeted sums will be released to the Chhattisgarh Police Housing Corporation once those administrative approvals are obtained.
Reading the court’s order makes clear the bench is taking a two-track approach: it has ensured short-term funds for repairs have been accounted for, while pressing the state to clarify the timeline and status of approvals that will unlock the larger construction programme. The court therefore directed the DGP to file a personal affidavit updating the administrative approval process and listed the matter for further monitoring on December 17, 2025.
The order signed on behalf of the court by the presiding judges also instructed registry and State counsel to send a copy of the order to the Director General of Police for necessary information and compliance. That administrative follow-up will be watched by those concerned with police welfare and by the court at the next hearing.
