The Chhattisgarh High Court has refused to grant anticipatory bail to Aazad Hussain, who is accused of being part of an interstate cyber fraud network. The court said there was no reason to give him protection from arrest at this stage.
Hussain was seeking bail in Crime No. 55/2021, involving charges under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of the IPC and Section 66-D of the IT Act. A charge sheet has already been filed, and Hussain has reportedly been absconding since the investigation began.
The defense argued that Hussain was innocent and wrongly accused, pointing out that some co-accused had already received bail. They stated that witness statements did not prove Hussain’s role.
The State argued that Hussain did not cooperate with the investigation and avoided authorities. They also submitted that Rs. 5,000 was transferred from Hussain’s account during the fraud and that another accused had named Hussain as an active participant.
Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari dismissed the plea, stating that the allegations and financial trail supported refusal of anticipatory bail. The court said the seriousness of the case and the applicant’s conduct justified rejection.
