Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad of the Jharkhand High Court celebrated Diwali with the children of the Ranchi Observation Home in Dumardagga, sharing a message of hope, perseverance, and self-belief.
Speaking to the children, Justice Prasad said that Diwali represents the triumph of light over darkness and reminded them to keep their inner light—symbolizing knowledge, truth, and goodwill—burning even in difficult times. “All of you are the future of this country,” he said. “No matter the circumstances, have faith in yourself. Through hard work, discipline, and education, you can move ahead in life. Success belongs to those who never give up on their goals.”
He encouraged the children to use their time wisely, study regularly, and build their future with a positive outlook. Justice Prasad also conducted a detailed inspection of the observation home, reviewing residential, educational, health, food, recreational, and rehabilitation facilities. He instructed officials to ensure that the children receive quality education, nutritious food, and adequate psychological and counselling support.
The celebration began with the traditional lighting of lamps, followed by painting and rangoli competitions. The children expressed messages of positivity and social harmony through their artwork.
The event was attended by the Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi; the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC); the City Superintendent of Police (City SP); officials from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA); representatives from the Social Welfare Department; and staff members of the observation home.
Justice Prasad concluded the celebration by distributing sweets to the children and presenting prizes and certificates to the competition winners.
